Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated was founded on December 6, 1998 at the University of Houston, Texas by 16 determined women who strived to foster friendship and unity amongst South Asian women. Over the years, Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated has presented unique opportunities in leadership, sisterhood, and community involvement to further ensure the social integrity of each woman. The strong bond of these women influenced women to expand the organization into 2000+ sisters and still counting.

In the Summer of 2011, four women: Sonia Joseph, Shayala Dave, Noreen Husain, and Avuntee Patel turned their dream into a reality and brought this organization to the heart of Atlanta. They strived to bring this organization to their university for multiple years, and they finally were granted their chance. Under the guidance of Jill Sharma, Keya Patel, Jessica Patel and with the support of sisters nationwide, they then began their process of becoming strong, independent South Asian leaders with a motive of bringing about change to their campus. Through their journey, these dedicated individuals learned through their determination and hard work that much could be accomplished. They developed a sense of motivation to bring about Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Incorporated philanthropy and values to Georgia State University, in hopes of further developing their collegiate experience and the student body. Not only were they promoting advocacy and leadership, they were also becoming strong, well- rounded women who were gaining skills that would benefit them for a lifetime. Tau Chapter was established on October 23, 2011.
